On 8 October 2016, a large cluster of organisations signed the Partners for International Business Covenant at the residence of the Consul General in San Francisco.
The covenant, entitled ‘Smart Mobility Solutions for Connected, Clean and Autonomous Transportation Needs’ (S4C), was signed during the STORM World Tour 2016 by the Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands.
Government, industry and research institutes in the Netherlands and the West Coast/Midwest of the United States have been working intensively in the field of clean mobility solutions for a number of years.
Strengthening partnerships and position
This new programme focuses on knowledge and innovation exchange between the United States and Dutch knowledge institutions and governments. It aims to strengthen partnerships and improve the position of the Dutch and US industry in the Smart Mobility market. It will result in at least five projects, with an estimated market value of five million euros.
The S4C companies are Tacstone, APPM, Allego, TomTom, NXP, Brainport, EV4LLC, e-Traction, EVBOX, Itility, Greenlots and EVCharge4U. In addition, the following organisations have joined the programme: Eindhoven University of Technology, Ohio State University/Center for Automotive Research, UCDavis, TNO, and the Province of Noord-Holland. Tacstone is coordinator of the cluster.
This four-year PIB agreement has 3 main objectives:
- Connecting innovation between the two regions in the field of Smart Mobility;
- Creating market opportunities for Dutch companies;
- Attracting investments by US companies in the Smart Mobility market in the Netherlands.
