Speakers
The Cybersecurity Innovation Fund (CIF-NL) subsidy scheme opened in October 2023. The Cybersecurity Innovation Fund (CIF-NL) aims to stimulate cybersecurity innovation. The projects that ultimately received the subsidy for the (further) development of cybersecurity solutions carried out their work in 2024. The solutions presented relate to one or more of the following sub-areas:
- Automation of cybersecurity solutions;
- Staff retention and development;
- Proportional, safe, and privacy-protecting sharing of data;
- Developing or scaling up small-scale cybersecurity solutions.
During this event, the parties from the projects that have received financing from CIF-NL will explain how they have used this financing to develop innovative solutions for promoting cybersecurity in the Netherlands and Europe.
Projects with available public summaries
The public summary is already available for the projects below.
The TrustBox Diode project aimed to increase cybersecurity by developing an affordable data diode that facilitates a secure uni-directional data flow. In contrast to traditional, expensive solutions, the TrustBox Diode is accessible to a broader audience, contributing to increased cyber resilience. The successful project resulted in a working prototype. Future steps include introducing the market and continuously improving functionality and compliance with future cybersecurity standards.
Pasquil developed the risk management tool Risqui and produced standard risk and measure sets for hospitals and universities. The successful integration of AI significantly improved Risqui's safety. In addition, the UX and UI design have been optimized for a better user experience. Finally, standard risk and measure sets were developed in collaboration with experts and are now widely communicated. The tool is now ready for extensive use.
This project explored the possibility of an easy-to-configure crypto-agility product and successfully demonstrated its viability. Recognition in Gartner's 2023 Hype Cycle and test customer engagement are early market indicators. These indications suggest a strong demand for this innovative technology. The project has accelerated the integration of new cybersecurity technologies, enabling the sharing of quantum-safe data across industries.
The cybersecurity plugin project aimed to develop a robust and secure Chrome plugin designed to assist small and medium-sized businesses identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks. The plugin scans websites and web shops for security risks by working in the background while the administrator surfs. In the future:
- the extension of compatibility with other browsers;
- integrating advanced data analysis tools;
- automating updates to keep up with evolving cyber threats.
As AI systems become increasingly important in finance, healthcare, and national security industries, protecting them against cyber threats is essential. The dynamic nature of AI models makes them susceptible to external attacks and internal breaches. Therefore, adaptive strategies that go beyond conventional cybersecurity measures are needed. Deeploy's study assessed the current capabilities of our AI platform and identified critical areas for improvement based on research into AI cybersecurity and security risks. This leads to a detailed roadmap with 12 recommendations for strengthening cybersecurity and security protocols, such as automated mechanisms for preventing, detecting, and responding to threats such as malicious input and availability attacks.
