We warmly invite you to a combined online information session on 2 complementary funding programmes for bio-based and circular innovation: the new call from the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) and the single-stage topics under the CIRCBIO strand within Horizon Europe Cluster 6. This work programme focuses on food, the bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and the environment.

For whom?

The webinars are open to all organisations based in the Netherlands within the business sector, academia, research institutions and government bodies.

Circular Bio-based Europe (CBE JU)

CBE JU is a €2 billion public-private partnership between the EU and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC). CBE JU has made €170.7 million available for the 2026 call, which opened on 23 April. The aim of this call is to accelerate sustainable and competitive bio-based solutions in Europe. You can apply for this call until 22 September 2026.

The 2026 call covers 13 topics, ranging from early-stage innovation research to large-scale industrial application. The topics focus on areas such as:

  • biorefining; 
  • bio-based materials;
  • circular packaging;
  • sustainable food ingredients.

Horizon Europe Cluster 6: CIRCBIO call

The CIRCBIO call under Horizon Europe Cluster 6 focuses on both the circular economy and the bioeconomy and opened on 17 April. The 11 single-stage topics for 2026 have a total budget of €101 million. You can apply for this call until until 17 September 2026.

The topics focus on areas such as:

  • plastics and textiles recycling; 
  • recovery of critical raw materials; 
  • urban circularity; 
  • biomass streams; 
  • bio-based biotechnology; 
  • bioeconomy policy; 
  • blue bioeconomy.

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency is the National Contact Point (NCP) for the Netherlands for the Horizon Europe programme. During the webinars, you will meet the NCPs from Cluster 6. They can assist you in setting up a project, review your project proposal and help you find project partners.
