The European Partnership for Responsible Minerals (EPRM) has launched the Due Diligence Hub. This new tool helps companies carry out due diligence on their minerals supply chains. The tool guides them through resources specific to their sector.
Access to information
The Due Diligence Hub is the first portal that provides easy access to existing information and tools. These are brought together from a wide range of websites and sources. All this information is now available in one place. This allows users to search for information that matches their business requirements.
New European regulation
The EU conflict minerals regulation on sourcing conflict minerals will come into effect on 1 January 2021. Under this new law, European importers of minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas must carry out due diligence in their supply chain. The minerals involved are tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold.
Improving due diligence
With the Due Diligence Hub, EPRM helps international supply chain actors improve their due diligence practices. Actors in the supply chain include artisanal and small-scale miners, large-scale miners traders, exporters, smelters, refineries and producing companies.
The Hub features around 130 resources. The resources are sorted per supply chain tier, mineral and OECD Due Diligence Guidance Step. Also, the Hub provides industry-leaders’ best practices through 15 company case studies. The case studies look at various supply chain actors. The actors share their challenges and ways to follow the 5-step OECD Due Diligence Guidance framework.
