Let Food be Your Medicine

Public healthcare is a concern of us all. Demographic developments inevitably lead to an ageing population and increasing pressure on our healthcare system as a direct consequence.

The question of how healthcare remains affordable is a dilemma of our time. Fortunately, research and innovation are valuable to address this challenge, for instance through personalised nutrition.

Importance of personalised nutrition

Personalised nutrition makes it possible to tackle the issue of malnutrition, to accelerate the healing process of patients and consequently, to reduce the period of overall hospitalisation. From our perspective in the Netherlands, we see the importance of exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of personalised nutrition. Primarily, we look towards our Benelux partners. Over the past two years, we addressed this issue and were engaged in projects with our Flemish counterparts. Both the Netherlands and Flanders are putting serious effort into carving out a ‘way forward’.

Looking at the conclusions of a recent internal study conducted by expert Mirjam de Groot, a former manager of food concept At your Request at Hospital ‘Gelderse Vallei’, we concluded that bilateral cooperation with Luxembourg could also be of great interest: what are the requirements to implement personalized nutrition? How can we step forward in this regard? How can we inspire each other and learn from each other? We are looking forward to exchanging views with you at our event!
