At the festive SDGP event of 6 June 2019, 18 successful projects received their grant decision. The first call of SDGP was a success. Sustainable value chains was the most popular theme, with thirteen projects granted. Two projects will focus on the better work and income theme, two on circular economy and one project will work on nutritional value. The total value of the projects is €34 million. Simultaneously, the second call of SDGP was launched.
During the event, the SDGP project advisors presented the programme and relevant information concerning the second call, as well as the lessons learned from the first call. Furthermore, the SDGP project advisors provided potential applicants with key information about the themes within the SDGP facility. The wish for even more inclusive and innovative proposals was expressed, and the changes of the second SDGP call were explained:
- Proposals from within the focus-region will receive ten bonus points, in order to stimulate more partnerships from this region.
- For the second call of SDGP €30 million is available.
- Partnerships can submit project proposals with one of the following themes:
- Nutritional value (€5 million)
- Sustainable value chains (€15 million)
- Sustainable and climate-resilient food production systems (€5 million)
- Better work and income for youth and women (€5 million)
In parallel sessions, the awarded project partners were informed about the way forward and gained insight into the upcoming phase of their project.
After these sessions, awarded project partners shared their experiences with the other attendees and their successful projects of the first call were celebrated accordingly. Carola Rijnsoever, director Inclusive Green Growth at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, remarked that the selected partnerships demonstrated their creativity throughout the assessment of the proposals. With project names such as ‘Going Bananas’ and ‘Rice on the rise’, and praised the innovative partnerships that combine expertise of all partners for sustainable business-cases.

Partnerships are encouraged to hand in their concept notes before 8 September 2019, allowing Netherlands Enterprise Agency project advisors to give their feedback in time for applicants to improve the quality of their project application.
