DVP Drinking water, waste water and sanitation (participant: South Africa)

Participants from eight different countries visited the Netherlands to discuss the water challenges facing their countries and learn about best practices and solutions developed in the Dutch water sector. The eight high potentials came well-prepared and were eager to learn more about the Dutch sector.

The programme included meetings on Dutch water policy with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment and regional water authorities. Participants enhanced their understanding of the water sector, sustainable technologies, and new developments and research during visits to the Port of Rotterdam, drinking water companies, waste water treatment plants, Dutch universities and research institutions. They were impressed with the excellent water services, sustainable solutions and research conducted in the Netherlands.

After an intensive programme, the participants returned home with new answers, new knowledge and numerous new contacts and ideas for future cooperation.

‘[The trip] was very well managed and organised, and meticulously and thoughtfully planned and executed. The excursion to the tulip garden was very good.’
