DVP Human Rights (participant: Indonesia)

This diverse group of young professionals visited the Netherlands aiming to make connections and learn about human rights. Participants held different views on human rights, which made for interesting discussions. Besides learning more about human rights in the Netherlands, participants also learned more about human rights in their own countries. They were also treated to a taste of Dutch hospitality at an engaging home hospitality dinner.

Participants gained a broad overview of Dutch human rights policy through visits to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights, COC Netherlands, a penitentiary and the Anne Frank Foundation. They also met international human rights defenders staying at Shelter City, an initiative of Justice and Peace.

‘The Dutch not only protect human rights in the Netherlands but also promote human rights in other countries. As human rights defenders we need this support.’

Participants: Brazil, Indonesia,  Kenya, Malaysia, Russia,  Turkey , Ukraine, Vietnam representatives: Marianne van Male, Vera Wiedemeijer, Jim van der Zwan
