From the 4th until the 14th of March, a successful Dutch Visitors Programme on ‘water, drinking water and sanitation’ took place. Eight participants from eight different countries visited the Netherlands to share their challenges and learn from the Dutch best-practices and solutions in the water sector. The eight high-potentials arrived well prepared and were eager to learn more about the Dutch water sector.
The programme gave the participants insights into the Dutch water policy through meetings with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Watermanagement and different Water Boards. Visits to the Port of Rotterdam, drinking water companies, waste water treatment plants, Dutch universities and research institutes gave insights in the water sector, sustainable technologies and new developments and research. The participants were impressed with the excellent water services, the sustainable solutions and the research conducted in the Netherlands.
After an intense programme the participants returned home enriched with answers, new knowledge and numerous newly acquired contacts and ideas for future cooperation.
Quote from a participant: “The entire program was very well designed and organized which allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding about the Netherlands, the Dutch water sector and the Dutch people and culture.”.
