Establishing Mega Food Parks is a priority for India’s Ministry of Food Processing Industries. These business parks will link agricultural production to the market by bringing together farmers,
processors and retailers, thus maximising value addition, minimising wastage and increasing farmers’ income. The Mega Food Parks scheme is based on a ‘cluster’ approach.
The aim of this visit was to put the Netherlands on the map as a partner in the development of agri-logistics and food processing, by showcasing Dutch knowledge and expertise. We also sought to emphasise the Netherlands’ focus on long-term relationships and whole-chain solutions.
Delegates met with representatives of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, including the Directorate-General for Agro and Nature and the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) and visited several relevant sites, such as Greenport Venlo / Fresh Park Venlo, Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), Food Valley NL and Agriport A7. A networking event with Dutch agri-logistics and food processing companies was well attended, with over 40 participants.
