Hydraulic engineer - IOM - Cote d'Ivoire

OPEN: DRRS is looking for an Hydraulic Engineer (P3) to support IOM in their IWRM programme in Cote d'Ivoire. The duration of the deployment is 3 months, duty station Abidjan. Fluency in both French and English is required for this position. 

The hydraulic engineer will be focussing on  providing technical expertise and quality assurance in the design, construction, and rehabilitation of hydraulic infrastructures including dams, surface water retention systems, and drainage structures. She/he will ensure compliance with engineering and environmental standards, while supporting national counterparts in the implementation of sustainable surface water management and flood risk mitigation measures.

For this position the following is required:

  • Fluency in French & English
  • Master’s degree in Hydraulic Engineering; Civil Engineering (Hydraulic or Water specialization); Hydrology / Hydrogeology, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant experience in Cote d'Ivoire or the region.
  • Experience in the implementation of WASH activities in developing countries, preferable in countries facing humanitarian crises and in support of emergency responses; experience in the region is an advantage;
  • Experience in the design and implementation of durable WASH and infrastructure, including contract management and technical understanding of the operation and maintenance of water supply and various sanitation technologies.
  • Excellent Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Skills; Managerial Skills; Organizational Skills;
  • Capable of providing staff capacity-building training, especially in water supply, sanitation, and hygiene.
  • Programme design and implementation that integrates environmental sustainability, energy-efficient systems, and community-based service models
  • Experience liaising with donors, government officials, and other stakeholders and a proven track record of resource mobilization
  • Works effectively with Donors, local authorities, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the broader community to advance country office or regional objectives.
