Companies and partnerships working on innovative low-carbon technologies can apply for funding from the Innovation Fund. The Innovation Fund is a financing programme from the European Commission. We expect the programme to run from 2020 until 2030. The total budget is € 10 billion and may amount to about € 40 billion.

The budget is from the European Emissions Trading System’s income (ETS). The European Commission published further details of the scheme on 23 November 2023. The new scheme includes a further broadening of the scope of the Innovation Fund towards aviation and maritime industries, road transport and buildings. In addition, within the general topic both CAPEX and OPEX is supported for small, medium-scale as well as for large scale projects.

Check out all relevant documents at the website of European Commission.
