Horizon Europe: Enhancing the Security, Privacy and Robustness of AI Models and Systems (SecureAI)

Last checked on:
3 March 2026

This European subsidy from the Horizon Europe programme aims to strengthen the resilience of AI systems and algorithms against various threats and attacks, such as enhancing their resilience against adversarial attacks, backdoor injections, and data poisoning.

Practical information

  • Application period: 3 March 2026 – 15 September 2026
  • Budget: € 21.2 million
  • Expected funded projects: 4 - 5
  • Estimation project time: 3 years
  • Grant programme: Horizon Europe Cluster 3

Conditions

The results of this call should lead to:

  • Developing robust AI models that can withstand hostile attacks. Investigate techniques to strengthen AI models and systems against hostile disruptions, such as adversarial training, robust optimisation, and defence mechanisms that increase the reliability of AI.
  • Improving the detection of manipulated or contaminated training data. Improve methodologies to identify and mitigate compromised datasets, using techniques such as anomaly detection, provenance tracing, and automated data validation mechanisms.
  • Addressing the concept of Private AI by developing mechanisms that enable AI models to be trained, deployed, and used in privacy-preserving environments, particularly for sensitive use cases such as government and enterprise environments.

Submission criteria

  • Take into account the incorporation of synergies with the push for AI transparency and the AI Act.
  • Only entities from the EU and countries associated with Horizon Europe CL 3 are eligible for this grant.
