Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone (HKWWFZ) is located approximately 28.6 nautical miles (53 kilometre) off the west coast of the Netherlands. There are 2 wind farm sites designated within the HKWWFZ: HKW Wind Farm Site VI and VII. A tender for the permit to develop the sites will be issued by the Dutch Government.
The total surface area of the Wind Farm Sites within the zone (including maintenance and safety zones) is approximately 176 km2. Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone will accommodate 1,400 MW of offshore wind power capacity. Transmission system operator TenneT will construct 2 offshore platforms with 2 grid connections within the HKWWFZ.

Draft Wind Farm Site Decisions
Draft Wind Farm Site Decisions (DWFSD) for Hollandse Kust (west) VI and VII Wind Farm Sites were available for inspection from 5 February 2021 till 18 March 2021. Offshore wind farm developers will be able to apply for a permit to develop the Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone projects. Publication of the tender is expected in Q3 2021. In 2025/2026 the wind farm is expected to be operational.
Update tender HKW
On 30 June 2021 the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, RVO, TSO TenneT and Rijkswaterstaat will host an online workshop ‘Dutch Offshore Wind Energy’ for developers and interested parties. More information and registration via offshorewind.rvo.nl.
On 27 October 2020 a workshop for wind farm developers and other market parties was held. The Government of the Netherlands gave an online update about the Dutch Offshore Wind Energy policy for offshore wind developers and other market parties.
The focus of this workshop is the upcoming Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone (HKWWFZ) tender, the Ministerial Order for Permitting Offshore Wind Energy, the Wind Farm Sites Decisions, the market consultation but also offshore grid development and all the site studies.

Available site studies
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency has commissioned various studies about Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone in preparation for this procedure. All available data will be published at offshorewind.rvo.nl.
