As a supplier, you can receive your order from the central government as an electronic order via Peppol. Maybe you already use the Peppol network to send e-invoices.

What is an e-order?

An e-order is an electronic order that you, as a supplier, receive and process directly in your own systems. The e-order contains the same information as a paper order. Check the Guide to the Central Government’s Basic Order (Handreiking basisorder Rijk, in Dutch). This guide sets out the minimum order details that the central government includes in an e-order.

What are the benefits of an e-order?

An e-order allows you to digitise the entire process from purchase to invoice (e-procurement). The e-order serves as the basis for the invoice and thus simplifies the invoicing process. The automatic processing of an e-order reduces the risk of data entry errors, saves time, and as a result cuts costs.

What is Peppol?

Peppol is an international, standardised, and secure open network for electronic messages, such as e-invoices and e-timesheets. Much accounting software already has a connection to the Peppol network.

What do you need to do to receive e-orders from the central government?

As a supplier you have to do the following:

  1. Check whether you can receive e-orders. You can contact the supplier of your accounting software to do so. Or you can contact your certified Peppol service provider if you already make use of Peppol. They can fill you in on all technical details and the options for receiving and processing e-orders.
  2. If your software is suitable for receiving e-orders, please contact the E-Procurement Knowledge Center using the contact form below. We will be happy to assist you.

What data does the e-order you receive contain?

The central government sends you as the supplier an order message. The data that are included in the order by default can be found in the documentation for the government’s Basic Order.
