TechBridge: Taiwan Call 2026 - Photonics Integrated Circuits
Are you developing integrated photonics and/or support enabling technologies for (future) high-volume production, and wish to collaborate with innovative partners in Taiwan? Then this TechBridge call may be for you.
Budget and application period
This TechBridge call is a joint initiative between Industrial Development Administration (IDA) and Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
Objective
With this call, Dutch companies, knowledge institutions, and research organisations are encouraged to establish R&D collaborations with innovative partners in Taiwan. These collaborations aim to strengthen cutting-edge research and innovation of integrated photonics, and support enabling technologies for (future) high-volume production.
Call

Key international conditions
- The consortium must include at least 2 independent companies: 1 from Taiwan and 1 from the Netherlands.
- If the consortium meets the above condition, other organisations, such as knowledge institutions, can also participate as partners.
- Projects must align with the scope of the call and target civil applications.
- The project must deliver clear benefits and added value through technological collaboration.
- No single organisation or participating country may cover more than 70% of the total eligible project costs.
- The collaborative project must focus on researching or developing an innovative product, process, or service, with the aim of commercialising the results.
- The product, process, or service must be innovative, and there must be a technological risk for all involved partners.
- The maximum project duration is 36 months.
Key national conditions
In the Netherlands, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) is the funding organisation.
- Participation of a Dutch company is mandatory for national funding.
- The lead applicant of the national consortium must be a Dutch company.
- Only research and development activities are funded; all other costs must be covered by the participants themselves.
- The Netherlands Enterprise Agency only supports projects with a balanced distribution of costs across participating countries (no more than 70% in one country).
Taiwanese project partners can receive funding if they meet the rules and conditions of their funding organisation, Industrial Development Administration (IDA).
Budget
Each Dutch consortium may receive a maximum of €700,000 per project.
Subsidy percentages
National funding rates of total project costs:
- Research activities:
- SMEs: 45%
- Industry: 35%
- Universities and knowledge institutions: 50%
- Development activities:
- SMEs: 35%
- Industry: 25%
- Universities and knowledge institutions: 25%
Information session
Monday 23 March 2026 the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and IDA, in collaboration with the Dutch representation in Taiwan, will organise an online information session to explain the call. This session is intended for anyone interested in R&D collaboration for co-development of photonics integrated circuits.
Information about registration and attendance will follow later.

The national application includes:
- The application form 'International Innovation – TechBridge' (available in our application portal)
- Project plan
- Project budget
- Public summary
- For each company: Statement of no enterprise in difficulty (in Dutch)
- For each company: Decision tree for the above statement (in Dutch)
- A signed consortium agreement (this may also be submitted at a later stage)

Submitting a project proposal
To be eligible for funding, you and your Taiwanese partner(s) must submit your own national application to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency in the Netherlands and IDA in Taiwan, respectively. Ensure that the same project title is used when submitting national applications.
1. Application in the Netherlands
To qualify for funding in the Netherlands, you can submit a national project proposal to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. You can apply from 2 March 2026 until 2 June 2026, 17:00 CEST.
2. Application in Taiwan
To qualify for funding in Taiwan, your Taiwanese partner must submit their own application to Industrial Development Administration (IDA).

After your application
During the assessment of your project, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) may ask questions regarding your project budget. A decision will be communicated in November 2026.
Administration
Do you want to make changes during the term of your project? Then we recommend that you first discuss this with one of our advisors. After the meeting, please notify us of the changes in writing as soon as possible.
During the course of the project, you must submit a written progress report once a year. Additionally, an advisor from RVO will call you once a year to discuss the progress of your project.
At the end of your project, you must submit a request for assessment. Information about requesting assessment can be found in our subsidy rules. You must also submit a final report. A few weeks before the end date of your project, you will receive a reminder about the final report by email.
