RVO is looking for an IWRM expert to support IOM in Côte d'Ivoire.

Northeastern Côte d'Ivoire is dealing with extreme climate events like droughts and desertification as well as population displacements. The lack of access to water in these regions is a source of tension between the herding and farming communities, which are very frequent in the area. This is likely to increase as a result of the additional pressure on resources caused by the arrival of thousands of people, often accompanied by their herds. In recent years, rainfall has become unpredictable, and farmers are in even greater need of irrigation systems to grow crops and meet their food requirements. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) aims to meet these needs in order to contribute to stability and peace in the region.

RVO has received a request from IOM to support their office in Côte d'Ivoire with these IWRM challenges. We are therefore looking for an IWRM expert to conduct a (remote) scoping analysis. Kindly see the Terms of Reference for more information.

This assignment is a pilot of implementing IWRM in a humanitarian context and might lead to more strategic IWRM approaches in this setting.

The start date is as soon as possible, duration of assignment is to be discussed further. Fluency in French and knowledge of the region is required.

If you meet the required expertise, are interested and available, then please respond (incl. an indication of your availability and an up-to-date CV) via drrs@rvo.nl.
