Solar (pump) specialist for IOM Ethiopia

Working under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and Head of Office/Preparedness and response unit coordinator; and the direct supervision of the WASH Programme Manager based in Addis Ababa, the Consultant will provide his/her technical support for the assessment, design, estimation, implementation, and supervision of solar powered water supply systems for the WASH response in Amhara and Tigray. Additionally, the consultant will support in capacity-building initiatives in line with the humanitarian needs in Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, and Somali Regions of Ethiopia.

A. Design and development of BOQ for Solarization of water supply schemes
B. Dissemination of results and capacity building
Education, Experience and/or skills required
a)Education
University degree in Civil Engineering, Solar energy, Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Environmental Engineering, hydrogeology or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or
School diploma in the above fields with six years of relevant experience.
b) Experience
Experience in the design, monitoring and installation of solar powered water schemes.
Experience in capacity building, especially related to water and solar energy will be strongly considered.
Familiarity with Grundfos, Lorentz and/ or other solar design software will be valued.
Experience in the design and implementation of WASH infrastructure, including procurement and contract management.
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
c) Skills
Strong level of analytical skills.
Computer literacy in water network analysis, computer aided engineering design and geoinformatics software is desirable. Working knowledge of graphic and web design software is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills: capable to share ideas and explain results to all levels of the Organization and stakeholders.
Travel required
80% of time allowed for travel to Tigray and Amhara regions of Ethiopia
