Urban WASH and Cholera Specialist with UNICEF DRC (P4)
CLOSED - DRRS is expecting a request on the short term for a Urban WASH and Cholera Specialist (P4) to support the UNICEF in DRC. The duration of the assignment is 3 months, start date ASAP. Fluency in both English and French are required.
This call is aimed at having a specialist ready to go once we receive the formal request.
For this position the following is required:
Essential:
- Advanced university degree or equivalent experience in Public Health, Public Health Engineering; Civil engineering, Environmental Health; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH); or another relevant course.
- Availability on the very short term, for a period of 3 months
- A minimum of eight years of professional experience in WASH-related programmes.
- Expertise in responding to cholera in urban areas. Ability to co-design/deliver appropriate cholera strategies across both community and health settings in urban contexts.
- Expertise in establishing appropriate methods for chlorination at point of source and point of use in both rural and urban settings e.g., bucket, bulk chlorination and or household water treatment options.
- Competent in using data management tools to visualise spatially the presence of functional water infrastructure with free residual chlorine levels, in conjunction with other outbreak data points (i.e., AWD/cholera cases and deaths).
- Able to assess the capacity of partners and thereafter design a capacity strengthening plan for chlorination, free residual chlorine monitoring and water safety planning.
- Negotiation, diplomacy, coordination and representation skills to work with people at managerial level and senior government technical departments.
- Fluency in French and English.
