Permit for windpark IJmuiden Ver Gamma-B

Last checked on:
28 January 2026

IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Site Gamma-B is located in a wind farm zone in the North Sea, approximately 53 km off the west coast of the Netherlands. There is space here for a wind farm with a capacity of approximately one gigawatt (GW). We are organising a tender for the permit for a wind farm at this site. In a tender, the permit will be awarded to the best application. It is not yet known when the tender will take place.

Location of the IJmuiden Ver Gamma-B site.

Which area is involved?

There are 4 sites (Alpha, Beta, Gamma-A and Gamma-B) in the IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone (IJVWFZ). Combined, the total surface area of these sites is approximately 609 km2 (including maintenance and safety zones). Together, these 4 sites will account for approximately 6 GW of installed offshore wind energy capacity. The IJV Gamma-A site has a surface area of 129 km² and has space for one GW of capacity.

Permits for the IJV Alpha and Beta sites were issued in 2024. More information about these sites can be found at Permits for wind farms at IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Beta. Information about the IJV Gamma-A site can be found at Permit for IJmuiden Ver Gamma-A wind farm.

Transmission system operator TenneT is installing the offshore grid that will connect the wind farms to the onshore high-voltage grid. This is how the wind energy generated is fed into our electricity grid. The wind farm will be connected to a TenneT substation platform for this purpose. The platforms have a 2 GW Direct Current (DC) connection to an onshore substation. This means that 2 wind farms, each with a capacity of one GW, will be connected to a single platform. The DC connection ensures a constant voltage on the electricity grid.

When can you apply?

It is not yet known when you will be able to apply for a permit for this wind farm. A new tender round with subsidies will open in January 2026. By end January 2026, the Minister for Climate Policy and Green Growth will announce whether this tender will be for IJV Site Gamma-B or other sites, and what the schedule will look like.

As soon as more information is available, we will publish it on this page. We will also post important documents for your application on this page. This will allow you to start preparing your application well before the application period opens.

Documents include, for example, draft versions of:

  • Ministerial Orders (regulations)
  • Application forms
  • Permit requirements

Wind Farm Site Decisions

Another document you will use when preparing your application is the Wind Farm Site Decision (WFSD). The WFSD for IJV Site Gamma-B (in Dutch) became irrevocable on 27 September 2025.

Site Studies

Together with our partners, we are conducting site studies in the IJVWFZ. The data and reports from the site studies are published on an ongoing basis at offshorewind.rvo.nl (in English). You can use the data from these site studies to develop plans and designs for offshore wind farms.
