Integrated photonics (incl. advanced packaging) is an important key technology for the Netherlands (see also the National Technology Strategy, in Dutch).
We have already explored opportunities for this technology in Asia in Japan and Taiwan. In Singapore, we are also seeing growing activity in this technology, supported by the government.  We see this reflected in the national research strategy in which integrated photonics is gaining an increasingly prominent place. International cooperation is also for Singapore seen as important to take steps forward in the field of integrated photonics. This offers opportunities for the NL ecosystem that we want to explore with this mission. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) is organising this mission in close collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Netherlands Innovation Network at the Dutch Embassy in Singapore and PhotonDelta.

Mission goals

  • Exploring the opportunities and developments in Singapore in the field of integrated photonics (and advanced packaging) for both research and business.
  • Where possible, make new contacts and strengthen existing ones between the NL ecosystem and the ecosystem in Singapore.
  • Special focus on opportunities in Singapore for entering end-markets for integrated photonics

Draft programme mission

We try to include the individual preferences and goals  of the participants as much as possible in the development of the program. The mission will take place during the Semicon SouthEast Asia conference and tradeshow, which will be visited as part of the program. During the mission, we will pay attention to the research cluster in Singapore as well as the business activities in Singapore.
Parallel to the innovation mission, the Brabant Development Agency, RVO and the Dutch Embassy in Singapore are organizing a Netherlands Pavilion at Semicon SouthEast Asia (fully booked) and a business mission Semicon. The program will contain some joint components.
The draft programme of the innovation mission:

  • 1 day visit exhibition Semicon SouthEast Asia
  • Visit The Photonics Institute (NTU)
  • Visit and matchmaking A*STAR Institute of Microelectronics Joint NL-Singapore seminar on crossover semicon and integrated photonics (also NL exhibition participants)
  • Matchmaking event
  • Company visit

For whom

This innovation mission is mainly intended for professionals from industries and knowledge institutions working on integrated photonics (incl. advanced packaging).

Cost

The costs for participation in the innovation mission are € 250 per person. This includes: participation in the collective programme, transfers to and from programme components, and lunch and dinners if this is mentioned in the programme. Participation does not include: travel and accommodation costs and all individual costs like cost for lunch and diner if not mentioned in the programme.

Registration

Would you like to participate in this innovation mission? Then register before Wednesday 12 March 2025 via the online registration form.

The mission is small-scale. The aim is to achieve max. 1 participant. Depending on the number of registrations, a second participant may be allowed. Final participation depends on the number of available places. We also look at how well your expertise fits within the scope and purpose of the mission. Registration does not therefore mean that you will be admitted to the mission. You will receive a final confirmation of participation after the registration closes.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The Dutch government attaches importance to corporate social responsibility and endorses the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. This sets out the CSR standards for internationally active entrepreneurs. Compliance with these OECD guidelines is one of the conditions for participating in this mission. In order to be able to assess whether your company or organisation meets these conditions, we ask you to complete a CSR self-scan after registration.
