Why South Korea?

South Korea is rapidly growing in quantum technology thanks to strong government investments and many research initiatives. The country has a fast-growing ecosystem of quantum start-ups, top universities, and multinational tech giants.

  • South Korea is the 4th largest economy in Asia and the 13th largest in the world.
  • It is a gateway to other large Asian markets.
  • South Korea has a very active government policy. The Korean government invests heavily in quantum computing, communication, and sensors. Over the next 5 to 7 years, the government plans to invest one billion dollars in the ecosystem.
  • More and more collaboration with foreign partners is taking place. For example, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Netherlands in 2023, where quantum is identified as an important area for cooperation.
