Cybersecurity is an essential key technology for the Netherlands. Due to society's increasing digitalisation of society, cybersecurity is a necessary condition for:
- protecting national security;
- economic stability, and;
- other social interests of the Netherlands.
Targeted investments in knowledge and innovation in cybersecurity technologies and their application in our economy and society are necessary to counter new digital threats in the future.
Importance of cybersecurity technologies
Cybersecurity technologies are essential for developing and successfully applying all digital key technologies. A multidisciplinary approach is required for cybersecurity challenges. This approach combines technical and non-technical knowledge to make the right decisions in the long term.
It is also essential to seek cooperation with representatives of Dutch sectors where major transitions are taking place, such as the energy, logistics, chip and manufacturing, and maritime sectors. In these transitions, cybersecurity principles must be incorporated into the supply chain to make it cyber-proof. Examples of principles are cybersecurity-by-design and cybersecurity-by-default. Read more about this topic in the National Technology Strategy (in Dutch).
In 2025, France and the Netherlands declared the year an 'economic year' with many joint activities between the two countries. Cybersecurity is one of the priorities. The cybersecurity partnership between the Netherlands and France has undergone significant developments. Especially since the 2021 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the ONE Conference in the Netherlands and the Forum International de la Cybersécurité (FIC), now known as Forum InCyber Europe.
Since its creation in 2007, the InCyber Forum has become one of Europe's most essential cybersecurity events. It offers an excellent opportunity to connect with the French ecosystem in one place. The partnership between the Netherlands and France has led to several joint trade, innovation, and government missions, strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
The InCyber Forum in Lille has become an important platform for building relationships within the French cybersecurity ecosystem and exploring opportunities in different sectors, such as automotive, life sciences, and agriculture.
In addition, several 'duplex events' were organised, where French and Dutch participants could discuss different topics in real time via live links between Paris and The Hague. Both embassies actively support these events and are often led by the ambassadors of the countries. This further strengthens the collaboration and offers opportunities for the Dutch ecosystem that we want to explore further with this innovation mission.
During the Forum InCyber Europe, there is a Dutch Pavilion where Dutch cybersecurity companies can present themselves to an international audience. It is possible to take a place in the NL Pavilion during the event and combine this with the innovation mission.
Please note: register separately for a place. Also, keep in mind that there are additional costs involved. You can register using the online registration form.
