Requirements for a residence permit for foreign startups

As an ambitious startup entrepreneur outside the European Union (EU), you might qualify for a residence permit for foreign startups. You can apply for a temporary residence permit valid for 1 year. During that period, you can start a company focused on an innovative product or service.

To qualify for this scheme, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. You must work with a trusted and experienced mentor (or facilitator) in the Netherlands.
  2. You have an innovative product or service.
  3. You have a step-by-step plan to develop your idea into a business.
  4. You and the facilitator are both registered in the Business Register of the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce KVK.
  5. You must have adequate financial resources to reside and live in the Netherlands.
