Opportunities in agri-logistics for fruit and vegetables
The Ethiopian horticultural sector offers enormous potential, including for fruit and vegetables. Much of the country has highly fertile soil and a suitable climate.
Developing Ethiopia's horticultural sector is important for its economy, food security and employment. The country faces various challenges in agri-logistics, such as:
- long and inefficient supply chains;
- inadequate transport networks; and
- large numbers of small companies with relatively low earnings.
Stronger agri-logistics are needed for the Ethiopian horticultural sector to succeed.
