Last checked on: 25 March 2024

What role can a municipality play in the increasing water demand and decreasing water quantity during heat periods?

Municipality is heatproof if

  • There is always sufficient water available for consumption and households.
  • The capacity of the water network is large enough.
  • The strategic drinking water supply is sufficient.

Measures

  • Together with the drinking water company, make an inventory of current and future bottlenecks for drinking water supplies in extreme heat.
  • Make agreements on measures to safeguard the drinking water supply.
  • Draw up a communication plan for residents that explains policy and crisis measures in the event of a drinking water shortage.
