The experts in our database have the opportunity to participate in training courses. Every year, a limited number of spots are available for the MHPSS Simulation training. The World Health Organization (WHO) organises them. Participants practise scenarios with the help of actors to prepare for humanitarian crises. This year, Rita, Carlos and Zuhra had the chance to attend one in Ankara, and they are excited to share their experiences.

Building Better Before: Scaling Up Capacity for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Preparedness workshop

"We attended an exceptionally well-structured and insightful workshop. We practised scenarios to prepare for humanitarian crises with the help of actors. The facilitators excelled at creating a balanced environment. They skillfully alternated between complex topics and lighter, reflective discussions. Among the highlights was an outstanding simulation exercise. It was one of the most impactful we have participated in.

This workshop offered valuable insights into the complexities surrounding MHPSS and preparedness for emergency interventions. We particularly appreciated the role-playing scenarios. They allowed us to engage deeply. We also gained a better understanding of how to respond effectively when MHPSS preparedness and response are needed.

We will undoubtedly apply the skills and preparedness knowledge in our future deployments. We are committed to sharing the expertise on a broader scale with the countries we will be supporting.

In conclusion, it was an intense and remarkable experience that enriched our perspectives. It also allowed us to learn from experiences, filling our hearts and minds. We are profoundly grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful and enriching learning journey."
